  7. If your monitor is incapable of supporting a particular resolution, do not open a monitor file for that resolution or you may permanently damage your monitor. The author assumes no liability for any damages—use at your own risk.

The safest way to use Monitor Switch is to create your own monitor files. Several monitor files are provided as a convenience for those people who do not have access to the proper monitor cables. Be careful when using these or any other monitor files created on a computer different from the one on which they are being used.

  11. If you ever restart your computer and the screen is unreadable because you used the wrong monitor file, then

  13.     •    power off your computer,
  14.     •    unplug your video cable from your Macintosh,
  15.     •    power on your computer,
  16.     •    wait 5 seconds,
  17.     •    power off your computer,
  18.     •    replace the video cable, and
  19.     •    power on your computer (the screen should be back to normal).
